Description
Unemployment Insurance is temporary income for eligible workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own. To collect benefits, unemployed workers must be ready, willing, and able to work, and actively looking for work during each week in which benefits are claimed.


Hours
Monday-Friday, 8am-7:30pm; Saturday & Sunday, 7:30am-8pm.

If you are filing a new claim, the day you should apply is based on the first letter of your last name.
A - F on Monday
G - N on Tuesday
O - Z on Wednesday
Missed your day - file Thursday - Sunday

Eligibility
New York State workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own.

Under the CARES Act, if you are self-employed, you may now file for unemployment benefits online.

Intake Process
The best way to file your claim is online.

If you do need to file by phone, there is a considerable wait time. Please do not call the Unemployment Claims number unless you are unable to file online or have been instructed to call to complete your application.

Any claim you file will be backdated to the date you became unemployed. You will be paid all benefits you are eligible for.
